Le Petit Fauve

“the little wild beast”

2021-present

This work was born during a time when connection with others felt less than possible, the pandemic. I began painting figures in a way to connect with the human form and illustrate the loneliness, the ugly parts, and the vulnerable act of being with oneself. I’ve held onto this series and continued working with their hollow eyes, exploring medium and color, leaving behind bold marks, and carving out shapes with the body and form. Many works begin as a reaction to happenings in my life that dictate palette and purpose on the surface. These bodies live within me and I imagine the viewer seeing parts of themselves in this work as well.
